CMFS/Miraclean provides two types of
corrosion inhibitors, water-soluble and oil-based.
The water-soluble inhibitors are low foam
and are designed to protect steel, iron, copper, brass, and bronze. Some
prevent flash rusting; others passivate steel surfaces and may be used
in a final rinse after cleaning, pickling, phosphating, black oxiding,
tumbling, wet grinding, heat treating, or general machine shop
operations. All provide humidity cabinet protection and some give Cast
Iron Chip Test and Herbert Test performance properties.
The oil-based inhibitors include
water-displacing and non-staining rust preventatives that provide
excellent humidity and salt spray protection. They may be used after
machining or alkaline cleaning operations, and some may be used over
black oxide, zinc phosphate, or bare ferrous alloys.
